The Royal Montreal Regiment (RMR) was founded in August 1914 as part of Canada’s participation in World War One. Three units in particular contributed to the creation of the RMR: The Canadian Grenadier Guards (CGG), 65th Caribiniers de Montreal (perpetuated by the Fusiliers du Mont Royal), and the Victoria Rifles.
Over the last 95 years the RMR has fought with distinction in both World Wars and contributed soldiers to almost every operation conducted by the Canadian Forces since; either on international peace support missions or domestic security operations.
2009 marks 95 years of the RMR’s service to Canada and a reunion will be held in Westmount on 22 August 2009 to permit the Regimental Family to gather and celebrate together. There will be activities for the family in Westmount Park and the Museum will have a special Anniversary display.
