LCol Nashrudi was born in Tehran, Iran, on 01 Jan 1965. He was raised and educated in Montreal, Quebec. In 1993, he joined the Canadian Forces as a Reserve Infantry Officer. He attended the Combat Training Centre, at the CFB Gagetown during the period 1993-1995, qualifying as a Phase Infantry Officer. LCol Nashrudi is a graduate of the (Reg F) Canadian Forces Land Command and Staff College, in Kingston. His other qualifications include Basic Para, CIMIC, PSYOPS, PA, UNMO, DDR and Peacekeeping Negotiations.
LCol Nashrudi has had the honour of serving with the Black Watch (RHR) of Canada and the Seaforths’ Highlanders of Canada prior to joining his beloved family, the Royal Montreal Regiment, in 2002. As a regimental officer he has served at all unit-level staff positions. In addition, he has had the privilege of comd, both at the platoon and the company level. The latter as a GPE Company Comd, comprised of Canadian Grenadier Guards, Le Régiment de Maisonneuve and Royal Montreal Regiment platoons.
LCol Nashrudi has participated in a number of national taskings. In 1997, he served as the CF Liaison Officer to the RCMP Protective Security Cell, during APEC ’97 in Vancouver, B.C. he has also participated in the NATO Exercises in Germany, and has instructed at the NATO Schools, in Germany and Netherlands.
LCol Nashrudi has participated in four operational tours. In 2002, he served as the S5/CIMIC with the 3R22R Battle Group, in BiH (SFOR – Div Comd’s Commendation). In 2004, he served as the G9-Plans and PSYOPS Officer at the Brigade HQ in Afghanistan (ISAF). In 2005-2006, he served with the DHTC (OEF – CANSOF TF Comd’s Commendation). Lastly, in 2008, he served at the UN Force HQ’s mission in Congo as the Security Sector Reform (SSR) Training Officer, where he was subsequently appointed as the Force Acting Deputy Chief of Staff SSR (MONUC - Force Comd’s Appreciation).
Following completion of a science degree at Vanier College, in Montreal, LCol Nashrudi attended McGill University, graduating with a B.A. in Economics, in 1991. Since then he has been employed in the private financial sector, as an analyst, and later as the Chief Equity Futures’ Trader for Scotia Capital Group, in Montreal. He currently serves as the chief trader of a proprietary derivatives trading firm.
A devoted military spouse, LCol Nashrudi is married to Ms. Mare-Josée Beaulieu, whom is currently posted to Garnison St-Jean as a Logistics Officer. LCol Nashrudi enjoys skiing, hiking, snow-shoeing, and swimming, while pursuing a life long struggle towards French Language proficiency.
