Regimental Sergeant Major's Message

The Royal Montreal Regiment prides itself as being one of the premier Reserve Infantry Regiments in Canada. This pride stems from its service to Canada. The RMR distinguished itself in WWI and WWII and has had members serve in Korea, Golan, Cyprus, Bosnia, Croatia, Kosovo and currently in Afghanistan.

Joining the ranks offers plenty of challenges, skills and opportunities for oneself. In the infantry you will be challenged physically continuously whether you are marching 13km with a 25kg rucksack or training for days with only a few hours of sleep a night. You will develop technical and leadership skills such as weaponry, fieldcraft, medical and instructional techniques. The list goes on and on. With all the training and experience you receive, your future is vast and opportune. The RMR has had members move forward with their careers to become Regular Force Infantry, Engineers, Communications, Naval, Police Officers, SWAT, RCMP, JTF2, USMC, US Army and USMC aviators.

Whatever the path you may choose in life, do the best you can. You can accomplish great feats if you work hard and believe in yourself. During your struggles, remember to serve Canada and to be proud of The RMR and yourself.

Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense.

Grant Furholter, CD
Chief Warrant Officer
Regimental Sergeant Major
