The passing of Royal Canadian Legion Br 14 President, Gerry Maass

MAASS, Gerhart (Gerry) On Thursday, April 16, 2009, at the age of ninety. Devoted husband of Joan Solomon for sixty years, father and father-in-law of Eric and Arlene Maass, Barbara Maass and Jean St-Amant. Proud grandfather of Aaron Maass and Simon St-Amant. Predeceased by his brother, Teddy, and his sister, Lisa. Uncle of Kathleen Masse. Gerry served overseas with the Canadian Intelligence Corps during World War II, and with the Canadian Area Security Office during the Canadian occupation in Oldenburg, Germany. He donated a large red ensign to the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa. Gerry was the past District Commander and the President of Branch 14 of the Royal Canadian Legion. He was President of the Montreal Numismatic Society, and a member of the American Numismatic Society. Gerry was also a Justice of the Peace. He will be fondly remembered by his many friends.
