Lord Strathcona Medal Winners for 2018
Westmount, Quebec – 08 June 2018: The RMR is proud of its affiliation with three cadet units: Number 1 West Montreal Squadron, Pointe-Claire (RMR) RCACC # 2806, and RMR RCACC # 2862, and we wish to extend a hearty congratulations to the latest generation of cadet leaders who have set the standard for leadership within their units.
The top cadets of each unit are awarded the Lord Strathcona Medal, which is the highest Award which can be bestowed upon a Cadet in recognition of exemplary performance in physical and military training. The typical criteria for the Lord Strathcona Medal are the following:
have a high level of physical fitness;
have met all requirements of their corps’ mandatory training program;
have met all requirements of their corps’ extracurricular support training program;
have completed three years as a cadet; and
be regarded by peers and supervisors as exemplifying the model cadet.
Cadets is a national program for young Canadians aged 12 to 18 who are interested in participating in a variety of fun, challenging and rewarding activities while learning about the Sea , Army and Air activities of the Canadian Armed Forces. Cadets are encouraged to become active, responsible members of their communities. They make valuable contributions to Canadian society on a daily basis in terms of environmental, citizenship and community activities. Cadets also learn valuable life and work skills such as teamwork, leadership and citizenship.
