RCACC 2806 POINTE-CLAIRE (RMR) FINISHES IN 5TH PLACE AT ZONE MARKSMANSHIP COMPETITION

CÔTE-DES-NEIGES – RCACC 2806 Pointe-Claire (RMR) competed at the Montreal-West Zone Marksmanship Competition held at the Royal Hussars Armoury on Saturday, March 9, 2024. The cadet corps sent 1 team and five individual competitors this year’s competition. Overall, this year there were 16 teams and 88 individual competitors from all across the western half of Montreal fighting competing for a chance to qualify for the provincial marksmanship competition.
Cadets competed using the Daisy 853-C and Avanti 853-C Cadet Air rifles, shooting in both the standing and prone positions under the direction of team coach, Captain James Carroll. These cadets have spent the last five months preparing for this day, attending weekly marksmanship practices on Monday evenings in addition to their normal Saturday training sessions.
The competition team was made up of older cadets who competed in the Open Category and at least two younger cadets under the age of 15 who also competed the Junior Category. This year the team finished in 5th place overall. There were a couple of notable finishes for the Junior Category with Corporal A. Foralosso finishing in 14th and Master Corporal T. Awad who 15th in the category. Overall, in the Open Category (that includes all 88 competitors), the cadet corps had two cadets finish in the top twenty, with Master Warrant Officer J. Bustillo finishing in 18th place and Cadet T. Rekhels finishing in 15th place.
