RMR Runners Beat Fundraising Goal
Westmount, Quebec – 30 September 2021: The RMR Foundation sponsored a ‘RMR Fundraising Run’ primarily as a team-building activity and to strengthen the links between The Royal Montreal Regiment (RMR), and its affiliated cadet units. Executed as a fundraising running/fitness challenge, the volunteer participants trained over the summer complete 5K, 10k, 15k, 21.1k, or 26.1k runs on 18 September 2021. A special congratulations to the 1 West Montreal Squadron running team who finished first place in fundraising, raising more than double the second place team!
The run was held on the banks of the Lachine Canal, with food provided by the RMR Association (Branch 14) and beer donated by Birra Fanelli. A big thank you to the 2 RCA Honorary Colonel, Steve Gregory (also a member of the RMR Association), who made the arrangements with Chateau Saint-Ambroise to allow us to hold the event on their property, as well as for arranging for the beer donation.
Runners from the affiliated cadet units and the Regiment departed at 09h00, and luckily the weather steadily improved throughout the day, so we got to enjoy lunch under the sunshine.
Funds donated to the RMR Foundation will be distributed to our affiliated cadet units in support of local initiatives that align with the charitable mission of the Foundation, subject to approval by the Foundation Directors.
