RMR Thanks MCpl Mai for Volunteering
Westmount, Quebec – 10 May 2024: The RMR’s Commanding Officer, Lieutenant-Colonel Maciej Jonasz, and the Regimental Sergeant-Major, Chief Warrant Officer James Quesnel, have been formally recognizing RMR members who are on Class B callouts and are volunteering their time to help out the unit with training, administrative, and/or operational duties. This extra service that they perform is above and beyond what they get paid for by the Canadian Armed Forces, and while this has been occurring for generations, it is nice to see some well-deserved recognition being given. The RMR Foundation has donated gift boxes containing exclusive RMR merchandise for these volunteers.
In this photo, Master-Corporal Mai is receiving the RMR gift box for his voluntary service during the live-fire range exercise held in Valcartier from 22-24 March 2024. Master-Corporal Mai is currently serving full-time in Valcartier as he prepares to deploy to Latvia. The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) play a crucial role in Latvia as part of NATO’s Enhanced Forward Presence (EFP), which is expanding since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. This mission aims to enhance security in the Baltic region amid growing tensions with Russia. The CAF’s presence involves a large deployment of Canadian soldiers who collaborate with troops from various NATO countries, engaging in joint training exercises and defence initiatives.
Thank you for your double service, Master-Corporal Mai – come home safe!
