“Westmount’s Regiment” – RMR’s story told to Westmount Historical Association

Westmount, 17 April 2014 – The story of the RMR’s connection with Westmount was told to approximately 35 members of the Westmount Historical Association in the Officers’ Mess on Thursday evening.  The presentation covered the last 100 years , with special focus on the origins of the Regiment, the perpetuation of the 58th Westmount Rifles, the building of the Armoury in 1925 (on land donated by the City and still leased to the RMR for $1.00 per year), and the deep connections of the RMR and Westmount.  Mrs. Doreen Lindsay, president of the WHA, organized the event and arranged to have it held inside the RMR’s home – including a special tour of the Regiment’s extensive museum collection.

The Westmount Independent covered the event, and their story can be read here on pages 14 – 15.
