Sign the ‘Museum Copy’ of Glory Never Dies

Westmount, Quebec – 26 November 2025: When the RMR Foundation set out to tell the story of the Regiment’s first century, the result was Glory Never Dies: The Royal Montreal Regiment – An Illustrated History of a Century of Service 1914–2014, written by Alan Hustak and illustrated by Camille Yip Hoi. At 168 pages, the book traces the journey of ordinary citizen-soldiers from the mud of Flanders to the hills of Afghanistan, using vignettes, photos, sketches, and maps drawn largely from the RMR Museum’s own collection. It carries the narrative forward with a summary of the decade up to early 2025, making it a true century-plus of service in one volume.
Because the book is built around the characters of the Regiment, we are creating something special inside the armoury: a dedicated “Museum Copy” of Glory Never Dies, to be signed by the people who appear in its pages – and by the families of those who are no longer with us. Over time, this single volume will become a one-of-a-kind artifact, linking the printed history to the hands of those who lived it.
The concept is simple. If you are mentioned or pictured in the book, or if a member of your family is featured in one of its vignettes, you are invited to come to the RMR Museum and add your signature beside “your” story. Museum volunteers will be on hand to help you locate the right page, whether your connection is a photograph, a paragraph, a caption, or a map reference.
The RMR Museum is open every Wednesday from 10h00 to 12h00 and on Tuesday evenings from 19h00 to 20h30. During those periods, visitors who are part of the book are warmly encouraged to drop by, sign the Museum Copy, and perhaps share a few extra details or anecdotes with the museum team while they are there. If you are signing on behalf of a loved one who has passed, you may note your relationship and their years of service so that future visitors understand the connection.
The Museum Copy will sit alongside the weapons, uniforms, documents, and other artifacts that illustrate the Regiment’s story, as well as records of recent regimental achievements and awards – a reminder that our history is still being written by today’s soldiers and NCOs.
For those who have not yet obtained a personal copy, Glory Never Dies is available for purchase through the RMR Kit Shop, with online ordering linked directly from the Regiment’s website. That book will live on your own shelf; the Museum Copy will stay in the armoury as part of the permanent collection.
By inviting the men and women of the greater regimental family to sign where they appear, we hope to turn Glory Never Dies into something even more powerful: a living document of the RMR’s spirit, in ink as well as in action. Next time you are at the armoury on a Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning, come up to the Museum and help us write – and sign – the next chapter.
