The Sacrifice at Ypres, The Stories of French-Canadian soldiers of the RMR in World War One

Westmount, Quebec – 29 Sept 2026: The Royal Montreal Regiment Museum presents a new temporary exhibit titled “The Sacrifice at Ypres, The Stories of French-Canadian soldiers of the RMR in World War One”, open between 04 – 15 November 2026.

The exhibit will be held on the parade square of the Major-General Charles Basil Price Armoury at 4625 rue Sainte-Catherine W, H3Z 1S4, open between 10h00 and 18h00.

This exhibit explores the two French-Canadian companies of the RMR, G and H Companies throughout their enlistment, training and time on the front lines. The sacrifice at Ypres refers to the French Canadian’s actions during the Second Battle of Ypres and the long-term effects that battle had on them.

The exhibit touches on subjects like trench warfare, PTSD, desertion, managing disabilities and re-integration into society after the war. Through personal stories, letters and photos, the exhibit humanizes and remembers the young men who proudly fought for French-Canada between 1914 and 1918.
