2026 Poppy Campaign Launches in Westmount with Mayor Michael Stern

Westmount, Quebec – 30 October 2026: The Royal Montreal Regiment (RMR) Association, Branch 14, officially launched its annual Poppy Campaign in Westmount today, with Comrade Sue Guerin, CD, presenting the first ceremonial poppy to the city’s new mayor, His Worship Michael Stern.
The occasion marked another chapter in the longstanding relationship between the City of Westmount and the RMR’s regimental family. The annual campaign is organized by the RMR Association (Branch 14), whose dedicated volunteers work throughout the Remembrance period to distribute poppies, collect donations and encourage the community to honour Canada’s fallen.
The campaign is a familiar sight in Westmount each autumn, with Branch 14 volunteers traditionally stationed at local grocery stores and businesses, including the IGA at Alexis Nihon Plaza, 5 Saisons on Greene Avenue and Metro on Victoria Avenue. Donation boxes are also placed in participating businesses throughout the community.
While the poppy is a powerful symbol of Remembrance, the annual campaign also serves a vital practical purpose: raising funds to assist Veterans and their families.

Supporting Veterans Through the Poppy Fund
Donations collected during the campaign are held in trust and used to provide assistance to Veterans, including former members of the Canadian Armed Forces and RCMP, and their families.
Poppy Trust Funds help support essential needs such as food, housing, clothing, prescription medications, medical equipment and emergency assistance. They can also support Veteran transition programs, accessibility improvements, educational bursaries for eligible descendants of Veterans, Cadet units and Remembrance activities.
The 2026 national Poppy Campaign runs from 24 October through Remembrance Day on 11 November.
The RMR Association encourages all members of the regimental family, Westmount residents and visitors to proudly wear a poppy and support the campaign. Every poppy worn is a visible commitment to remembrance, and every donation helps ensure that those who have served Canada are not forgotten.
Lest We Forget.
