Cadet Master-Corporal Ghosh Sets The Standard for Drill and Ceremonial
Westmount, Quebec – 28 August 2025: Captain Johnny Mo, Commanding Officer of 2862 RCACC (RMR) was proud to announce that Cadet Master-Corporal Avijit Ghosh of 2862 RCACC (RMR) distinguished himself this summer by earning the Top Army Cadet Award in the Introduction to Drill and Ceremonial (ITDC) course.
Held at the Canadian Armed Forces–operated Valcartier Cadet Training Centre near Quebec City, the ITDC course spans two weeks and is open to proficient Level 2 cadets who are medically and physically fit and motivated to develop their drill and ceremonial skills. Through intensive instruction, participants hone leadership abilities and deepen their understanding of standards in drill maneuvers, ceremonial formations, and professional turnout.
Cadet Master-Corporal Ghosh demonstrated outstanding proficiency throughout the course—mastering precision drill, commanding presence, and instructional capability with unwavering discipline. His consistency, attention to detail, and natural leadership quickly set him apart in the eyes of his instructors. At the closing ceremony, he was presented with the prestigious Top Army Cadet Award, recognizing him as the highest-performing Army cadet in the drill and ceremonial program at the CTC.
The significance of this recognition is anchored in the Canadian Cadet Movement’s award system, which includes distinctions such as the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans in Canada Cadet Medal of Merit—awarded at each Cadet Training Centre to the top cadet for each instructor-level course, including drill and ceremonial.
Cadet Master-Corporal Ghosh’s achievement reflects both his personal dedication and the excellence of 2862 RCACC (RMR). His success reinforces the RMR’s proud tradition of ordinary Canadians achieving extraordinary results.
