RMR Soldiers Step Off the Training Year with Annual Ruck March

Westmount, Quebec – 22 September 2025: This past weekend, soldiers of The Royal Montreal Regiment (RMR) laced up their boots and shouldered full fighting order to complete the Regiment’s annual ruck march — the traditional marker of a new training year.
Covering long distances with heavy packs is never easy, but the march is more than just a test of endurance. It builds the physical fitness, resilience, and teamwork that Reservists must carry into every exercise and deployment. For soldiers balancing civilian careers or studies with military service, the march is also a reminder of the commitment required to maintain operational readiness.

Each completed ruck march strengthens not only individual stamina, but also Regimental cohesion. Side by side on the road, members of the RMR push through fatigue together, embodying the spirit of “ordinary Canadians doing extraordinary things.” The march sets the tone for the year ahead, ensuring the Regiment is ready — whether on operations abroad or serving the local community at home.
