Westmount, Quebec – 21 November 2025: Corporal Adam Aktas of The Royal Montreal Regiment (RMR) returned to his old stomping grounds this November, visiting the Gerald McShane Elementary School in Montreal North as a special guest for their annual Remembrance Day ceremony. For Aktas, an active reservist and former student, the visit was both an honour and a homecoming. He spoke to students about the sacrifices of Canadian soldiers and how values like teamwork, discipline and leadership first took root for him in those same hallways.

Surrounded by teachers who remembered him as a child, Aktas described the experience as deeply nostalgic and encouraged students to see their education as a building block for future careers and service, whether in uniform or in their communities.

CityNews Montreal captured the ceremony and an interview with Corporal Aktas, highlighting the connection between the Regiment and the broader Montreal community. Readers are encouraged to watch the segment to hear his reflections in his own words: CityNews Montreal
