Westmount, Quebec – 23 February 2020: The WO’s & Sgts’ Mess hosted an intimate concert on 22 February 2020 to raise funds and awareness for Guitars for Vets, a program that matches veterans and still-serving members with PTSD or other service related disabilities with a gently used guitar and online lessons / volunteer lessons where available. Putting the healing power of music in the hands of heroes. Tickets were free, however donations were being solicited at the door and over $900 was raised from the crowd of approximately 65 people!

Ryan Carey performed original songs he has written since returning from war. A straightforward, often roots musical style with a conviction that music has a social or communal purpose beyond just entertainment. His songs blended the story telling qualities of folk, blues, and country; describing personal woes and triumphs that veterans face while reconnecting emotionally to a world of harsh reality.
