Comrade Sue Guerin, President of the RMR Association (Br. 14) presents the cheque to Councillor Rosalind Davis who accepted on behalf of Canada Company

15 April 2015, Westmount, QC – In a ceremony preceding the RMR Foundation’s Vimy Movie Night last Thursday, the comrades of the RMR Association (Branch 14) of the Royal Canadian Legion presented a cheque to Canada Company, a charity that began in 2006 with a pledge to stand shoulder to shoulder with our troops for the sacrifices they make every day.  Accepting the cheque on behalf of the Canada Company Quebec Chapter President, Steve Gregory, was Councillor Rosalind Davis of Westmount, the Commissioner of Sports and Recreation.

Since 2006,  Canada Company has grown to several hundred members and has firmly become an influential voice advocating for our troops at home and abroad.  Canada Company quickly established a reputation among senior Military leaders, media and many members of the business community as a growing outreach between Canada’s Armed Forces and the corporate world.  Since its inception in 2006, Canada Company has taken a leadership role in developing and supporting initiatives that help our men and women who serve and the work that they do at home and abroad.  Initiatives have ranged from large, far-reaching projects such as the launch of a Scholarship Fund which provides the surviving offspring of military personnel KIA with scholarships of up to $16,000 each to help defray the costs of their post-secondary education, to fundraising for hospitals in Kabul and Kandahar to donating soccer balls to children in Afghanistan.

met-logoThe current focus of Canada Company is their Military Employment Transition (MET) Program, which is an initiative developed to assist Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members, Reservists, and Veterans who are transitioning out of the military to obtain employment in the civilian workforce. The program serves as a bridge between the CAF and Canada Company’s “Military Friendly Employer Partners”.

The mandate of the program is to establish, foster, and drive the connection and relationship between Canadian Armed Forces members and Veterans, and the leaders in the public and private sector who will offer employment opportunities. Learn more at canadacompany.ca.
