RMR soldiers conduct specialized winter training

Westmount, Quebec – 01 Feb 2026: RMR soldiers are conducting specialized winter training focused on Arctic operations. This includes establishing and practicing cold-weather SOPs, setting up airstrips for evacuations and resupply, patrolling with winter equipment and skis, and building shelters while honing essential survival skills. This training is designed to prepare soldiers to operate effectively in extreme northern environments.
The training leads into a week-long exercise in Resolute Bay and Eureka, far north and above the Arctic Circle, where soldiers will apply these skills in real-world conditions. Operating in such environments demands discipline, resilience, and teamwork.
By training to operate in every climate across the country, the Canadian Army ensures readiness to defend Canada’s sovereignty, from coast to coast to coast.
