Westmount, Quebec – 08 June 2026: The Command Team Coin recognizes members of The Royal Montreal Regiment (RMR) whose professionalism, dedication, and excellence make a significant impact on the Regiment. This year, one of those recipients is Captain Ross McLaughlin.

During the 2025-26 training year, Captain McLaughlin demonstrated an exceptional commitment to service by voluntarily taking on responsibilities far beyond what was expected. While employed full-time in a Class B position with 2 Canadian Patrol Group Ranger, he simultaneously served as Officer Commanding of two separate companies.

Captain McLaughlin commanded Alpha Company of 34 Brigade’s Regional Basic Infantry Leadership course while also serving as Officer Commanding of Bravo Company at the RMR. Balancing these demanding responsibilities required tremendous dedication, leadership, and personal sacrifice.

His willingness to devote countless additional hours to the success of both organizations reflected a simple but powerful military principle: service before self. By stepping forward when leadership was needed, Captain McLaughlin helped ensure that soldiers received the training, mentorship, and support required to succeed.

For his exceptional dedication to both the Regiment and the Canadian Armed Forces, Captain McLaughlin was awarded the Command Team Coin.
