1 West Squadron CO’s Online Parade

Westmount, Quebec – 29 January 2021: 1 West Montreal Squadron held their CO’s parade on 27 January 2021. The event was well attended by more than 100 members of the squadron as well as supporters and guest speakers, including Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel David Bensadoun from the RMR.

Major Tom Leslie, Commanding Officer of 1 West, presided over a very well-run event, done virtually in accordance with current restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Cadet Captains entrusted with running the online parade did an excellent job, smoothly moving from one segment to the next and keeping the event on-time and participants engaged.

The parade included 39 promotions across all junior and NCO ranks. As well, there were two parade appointments: WO2 Donato was named to Squadron Warrant Officer and WO2 Wang was named to Deputy Squadron Commander.
HLCol Bensadoun presented remarks as a guest speaker, congratulating the cadets for their service and their perseverance and encouraging the cadets to look beyond the current lockdown and to the summer ahead.

The parade concluded with a thanks to the NDG and RMR Legion branches for their generous donations to the 1 West poppy campaigns.
