LGen Stenning appointed Commander UK Land Forces

Westmount, Quebec – 19 March 2026: The Royal Montreal Regiment (RMR) sends its sincere congratulations to Lieutenant-General Zac Stenning, CB, OBE, Colonel of the Regiment of the RMR’s sister regiment, The Royal Yorkshire Regiment, on his promotion and appointment as Commander Land Forces. This newly titled three-star appointment is a significant one, placing LGen Stenning at the forefront of preparing and generating Land Forces for operations at home, with NATO, and across the globe.
According to the British Army, LGen Stenning will also lead training and warfare development across the Army, helping ensure it remains ready for the demands of modern conflict and at the cutting edge of military capability. It is a role of real consequence, and one that reflects both his distinguished service and the confidence placed in his leadership.
Reflecting on his appointment, LGen Stenning said he was “honoured and excited” to be returning to the Army, adding that “together, we will deliver the most capable Land Forces wherever our Nation needs its Army.” Those words will no doubt resonate strongly across his regimental family and among sister regiments such as the RMR, where service, leadership, and readiness remain enduring values.
We extend our best wishes to Lt Gen Stenning as he takes up this important new command.
